Abstract

The species composition of the microalgal community of the sea ice and under-ice water in Voevoda and Novik bays of Russky Island in 2020-21 is described. The taxonomic analysis has identified 87 species from 48 genera and 7 phyla, which are given in a taxonomic list. The maximum species richness is represented by the Bacillariophyta phylum (57–100% of the number of species in an ice layer). Algal flora of ice and under-ice water is represented by benthic cosmopolite species. The species composition varied most significantly between the years of the study. Differences in species composition were also noted between bays and biotopes, and depending on the position of the layer in the ice column.
