Annotated list of diatoms oт epiphyton macrophytes of the aquatic-rock complex Kazantip Cape (Crimea, the Sea of Azov)

Abstract
In this work we summarise, for the first time, original data on the diatom species composition from 129 samples of 14 macrophyte species from the upper sublittoral of the aquatic-rock complex “Kazantip Cape” of the Sea of Azov for the period 2022–2023 on a depths 0.1 – 1.0 m, of temperatures from 3.7 tо 29.0 °С, water salinity from 13.6 tо 15.6 ‰ were presented. The annotated list of phylum Bacillariophyta includes 98 species and intraspecific taxa of diatoms from 3 classes, 21 orders, 27 families and 45 genera, indicating their sizes, occurrence, ecological and phytogeographic characteristics, abundance and biomass. The greatest number of diatom species was recorded on thalli of green alga Ulva linza (61 species), red alga Carradoriella denudata (45), brown alga Ericaria crinita (40), in the epiphyton of sea grass Zostera marina (37) and its association with Zannichellia palustris subsp. major (35); the least number of species – in the epiphyton of red alga Pyropia leucosticta (9). High species diversity of diatoms was noted in the class Bacillariophyceae (72 taxa), as well as for the genera Nitzschia (12 species), Navicula (11) and Licmophora (6). The benthic species Berkeleya scopulorum was discovered in the Sea of Azov for the first time. In epiphyton communities benthic (83%), marine (51%) and cosmopolites species (35%) of diatom algae predominate. 30 colonial species have been identified, of which the following are present year-round: Achnanthes brevipes, Berkelya rutilans, Grammatophora marina, Melosira moniliformis, Navicula ramosissima, Rhoicosphenia marina, Tabularia tabulata. Cosmopolit species Cocconeis scutellum, Gr. marina, L. abbreviata, Rh. marina, T. tabulata dominate in abundance. Eleven species are able to cause water blooms and 45 are indicators of saprobity of waters organic pollution.
