Abstract

The average content of aliphatic hydrocarbons in fish from the Long Tau River was 10.46±2.10 mg·100 g-1, in the Ca Gau River – 11.04±4.28 mg·100 g-1, in the Ham Luong River – 5.92±3.1 mg·100 g-1. Comparison of samples obtained in different study areas (Student's t-test, p=0.05) showed significant difference absence in the concentration of the substances studied. It was not possible to trace the effect of fish fat content on the accumulation of hydrocarbons. This phenomenon is probably explained by the fact that the effect of aquatic organisms' fat content on the accumulation of aliphatic hydrocarbons begins to affect after some accumulation. At low hydrocarbon concentrations, this dependence was not traced. The difference in the content of aliphatic hydrocarbons in fish can also be associated with their ecological characteristics: ecological habitat, feeding method and other factors. The concentrations of lipids and aliphatic hydrocarbons in pelagic and bottom fish did not differ significantly (Student's t-test, p=0.050; p=0.052, p=0.150). It was also not possible to detect differences in the content of carbohydrates and lipids in fish in connection with their feeding method (Student's t-test, p=0.050; p=0.280, p=0.280). The composition and concentration of n-alkanes in fish inhabiting several rivers of Southeast Asia were determined. The fish habitat was rivers flowing through the wooded areas. The waters of this rivers are enriched with compounds produced by terrestrial vegetation, which was probably the source of high-molecular weight n-alkanes entering the animals' organisms. This fact is another confirmation of the influence of the hydrocarbon composition of the environment on the composition of hydrobionts, in particular, fish. It can be concluded that the difference in the composition of n-alkanes of the studied fish (in the studied data array) had no geographical reference, was not associated with the peculiarities of their ecology and feeding method.
